FDA Field Work Force Planning System (FWFPS)

GNSI developed the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Field Workforce Planning System (FWFPS) for the Office of Regulatory Affairs (ORA). FWFPS is used by ORA to determine personnel resources needed to carry out operational field activities for the upcoming fiscal year. These activities include inspections, chemical testing, microbiological testing, and monitoring of imports. The field workforce work plan adjusts as required in the event that emergencies arise. DPEM can perform a variety of tasks using FWFPS such as, creating data records for new workplans, modifying existing workplan data, generating reports, and calculating staff resources needed to support operational field activities.
FWFPS is a web-based application programmed in Java using the J2EE architecture. The application runs on an Oracle 10g Application Server with an Oracle 9i RDBMS to store the data. Reports are generated using Business Objects. FWFPS replaced a version of the program written over 20 years ago in BASIC.
