GlobalNet Services Receives Green Business Certification
GlobalNet Services, Inc. (GNSI) has been certified as a Green Business by the Montgomery County Green Business Certification Program. This program is backed by the County’s Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) and recognizes businesses that have taken strides to implement habits and processes that preserve and improve the environment. To show their appreciation for businesses that attain this certification, the Montgomery County Ride-On Buses have offered to promote the businesses on their fleet. GNSI is proud to participate in this program as a certified Green Business and encourage the surrounding community to follow suit in protecting our environment.
GNSI’s President and CEO, Ori Reiss, was proud to hear that the company had earned the Green Business certification. “All of us at GNSI truly care about making the world we live in cleaner and greener. I am delighted that the County recognizes our efforts with this certification.”

GNSI’s management and staff have been working together to achieve this certification by adopting environmentally conscious processes on all levels. The company uses paper products with at least 30% post-consumer content, has an active recycling program for all eligible materials, and ensures that electronics are properly and safely recycled. GNSI headquarters will also undergo periodic energy audits to ensure efficiency and reduce waste. The staff takes conservation matters outside the company as well, raising awareness and encouraging power and water conservation, as well as recycling, throughout all areas of the HQ building.
GNSI has added new employee benefits that also have a positive effect on the environment. For example, the company now offers Smart Benefits for employees who use the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) trains or buses in order to encourage use of public transportation and reduce carbon emissions. This monthly pre-tax benefit reduces costs and encourages ridership.
The company encourages employees to take each take small steps towards sustainability, such as conserving electricity by turning off lights and powering off unused equipment. Staff are also encouraged to recycle and to carpool, ride-share, and walk or bike to work. By offering services and incentives that reduce the company’s carbon footprint, GNSI continues to demonstrate its commitment to helping maintain and improve Montgomery County’s sustainability initiatives.
